Over last two decades, computer graphics has become the most powerful
communication means between the human and computers. It will be further
expedited due to the recent advent of virtual reality. Furthermore,
fast communication networks, so-called information highway, will
accelerate this trend.
In the next decade, we are confronting a great challenge to realize new
paradigms for human-computer interaction, which would eventually lead
to the seamless extension of real worlds. This raises many new
technical issues concerning human interaction with environments on the
top of classical problems in computer graphics such as realistic modeling,
rendering, and motion control. CGI '96 (Computer Graphics International
'96) provides a unique opportunity for discussing both solutions to
classical computer graphics issues and new directions in human-computer
interaction.
CGI (Computer Graphics International) is an international conference on
computer graphics. The past two conferences were held in Australia(1994)
and United Kingdom(1995). The next two conferences are planned in
Belgium(1997) and Japan(1998).
- Tutorials:
Tutorials are scheduled on selected topics of
computer graphics on modeling, animation, and rendering.
Internationally recognized pioneering researchers and industry experts
on each topic will be invited to lecture the tutorials.
Each tutorial will take both research-based and practice-based approaches,
and cover basic concepts as well as state-of-the-art technologies.
The tutorials are aimed at transferring the knowledge in research environments
to the domain of practice.
- Technical conference:
The presentations include both invited and submitted papers.
Each submitted paper will be peer reviewed and then evaluated by the
program committee,
on its relevance, clarity, correctness, originality, and significance.
Each paper should contain significant and previously unpublished results.
The conference proceedings will be published in a hard cover book with
fully integrated colors by an internationally recognized publisher.
The proceedings will be available at the registration.
- Exhibitions and industrial seminars:
Exhibitions are scheduled to display the very latest hardware,
software, and application systems in computer graphics,
multimedia, virtual reality, and video games.
Exhibitors can demonstrate their products to an international audience.
Industrial seminars are also scheduled to demonstrate new commercial products.
Through exhibitions and industrial seminars,
users and researchers can easily obtain the information on new products.
The industry people have an opportunity to come in contact with forthcoming
customers.
- Film and video show:
Film and video are important media for computer graphics. This show will
present innovative results from the latest computer graphics
technologies. CGS provides Computer Animation '96 films
to show them for the film and video show.
The conference topics include the selected topics below,
but are not limited to:
- Computer Animation
- Rendering Techniques
- Geometric and Solid Modeling
- Computational Geometry
- Physically-Based Modeling
- Multimedia Modeling
- Synthetic Worlds
- Virtual Reality
- Real Time Graphics
- Graphics Hardware Architecture
- Scientific Visualization
- Volume Visualization
